December 4, 2018 “Leading Ladies”

This Boss Talk will feature panelists that represent the Leading Ladies in our community. Each has been involved in local, state, or federal politics and will offer our community of #BossLadies some insights into how you can make your voice heard while staying informed and engaged in your community.

Time and Location

This Boss Talk will be on Tuesday, December 4 at Sechrest Design, Co. (231 E. Fifth Ave.). The talk will be from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. with rosé provided by Farmers Daughter Vineyards, refreshments, and cupcakes provided by Lucy and Leo’s available throughout.

Complimentary parking is available around the back of the location.


Carrie Litherland

Carrie Litherland is the new executive director of the Legal Aid Foundation of Tallahassee. Legal Aid works to ensure low-income families and residents have access to quality legal services they wouldn’t be able to afford otherwise.  Carrie ran for Mayor of Tallahassee in 2018, campaigning on sustainability, thoughtful development, preserving Tallahassee and economic development through enhancing infrastructure and exploring innovative job opportunities. She volunteers with NAMI-Tallahassee, the local affiliate of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, helping with their annual fundraiser and suicide prevention awareness campaign. Along with her parents, Carrie helped start the first statewide peer support association, FPSA. Carrie is a Tallahassee native, and an alumna of Florida State University, graduating in 2016 with a Bachelor’s degree in psychology. She is a single mother of a one-year-old and believes there is no obstacle big enough to stop success.

Melissa Stone

Melissa Stone serves currently as Chief Executive Officer and a Republican Strategist of Cavalry Strategies. She was appointed Chief of Staff to Governor Rick Scott in December of 2014. Prior to her appointment, she served as Governor Scott’s 2014 re-election campaign manager and previously as the Governor’s Director of Communications in the executive office of the governor.  Melissa has also served as the Director of Regional Media for the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa and was the former Communications Director for Governor Bobby Jindal in Louisiana during his first term. Melissa is a native of Texas and received a bachelor’s of journalism from the University of Texas at Austin.

Monica Russell

Monica Russell is a public relations and strategic consultant with MD Russell Enterprises LLC in Tallahassee, Florida. She has previously served in the executive office of Governor Rick Scott, as Director of Cabinet Affairs, Surrogates Director and Director of Strategy, Deputy Director of Communications, and Director of Communications and External Affairs. Monica also served as the Chief Communications Officer for the Department of Economic Opportunity from 2013 until 2014. She has been a strategic communications consultant with both North and DC Navigators, acting as the primary communications contact for various political campaigns. Monica has also served as the  Vice President of Government and Community Affairs for the Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce, where she was responsible for the coordination of all local, state and national governmental and political efforts, and prior managed the $12 million legislative initiative of Florida reBuilds, which recruited and trained 11,000 individuals into Florida’s construction industry. Monica is an alumnus of the University of Florida where she received her bachelor’s degree in political science.

Discounted group tickets are available for groups of five (5) at a rate of $135 per package. Students may use code “student” at checkout and present their student ID at the event for a discount.
