In 2010, the City of Gretna was continuing its focus on targeting various economic development opportunities to help with the city’s growth as well as create greater job opportunities for Gretna residents. The City embarked on a partnership with the Poarch Band of Creek Indians to develop a state-of-the-art barrel race track in Gretna, Florida.
The North team was engaged to help the city educate residents about the new job opportunities while also helping to educate the public and state pari-mutuel officials about the benefits of the project to ensure community support and approval by the state.
Through community engagement and target marketing and placements, the North team helped the City of Gretna achieve its goals. The facility was awarded a pari-mutuel horse racing license by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR) in 2011, began conducting pari-mutuel horse races in December 2012 and has created hundreds of jobs and various ongoing economic benefits for the City of Gretna.
